Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Employer: International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC).

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

Duties:

•    Ensure that all project financial data are kept update and that interested parties get accurate and timely feedbacks/reports
•    Maintains files, including filing of general ledger journal vouchers, accounts payable documentation, and other miscellaneous filings
•    Types a variety of documents, reports, and records
•    Keys daily worksheets to the general ledger system
•    Maintains regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information
and/or to correct transactions
•    Provide early warning to management on financial and budgetary issues where variation authorization may be required
•    Provide accurate coding at transaction level to ensure that expenditure monitoring is accurate and data is captured in the right cost and sub-cost centers
•    Prepare draft financial reports to be reviewed internally, before submission to HQ/donors
•    Present Project Accounts for audit as and when necessary

Required Experience:

•    Bachelor’s degree in a finance and accounting or relevant field, a Certificate in a in a profession course like ACCA, CPA, will be an added advantage
•    At least two years working experience in a similar position with an international organization
•    Highly motivated, energetic, independent self-starter with strong communication skills
•    Excellent analytical skills
•    Proficiency in MS office (Word/Excel)
•    Demonstrate strong proficiency in accounting software packages
•    Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skills
•    Ability to work under pressure, deliver quality results and meet deadlines
•    Honesty and integrity
•    Ability to work with people from different nationalities and backgrounds
•    Team player, flexible and adaptable to different work conditions
